The Center for Health and Wellness Coaches invites coaches to participate in a 7-week reading challenge that will help them grow their coaching practice. The challenge involves reading and discussing Saloni Sharma, MD's book: The Pain Solution: 5 Steps to Relieve and Prevent Back Pain, Muscle Pain, and Joint Pain Without Medication.

This course is approved for 2 continuing education (CE) credits by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). This course is spending eligibility for CE credits through the International Coaching Federation.  



About the Author


Dr. Sharma is a double board-certified physician, Harvard-trained acupuncturist, and medical director of the Orthopaedic Integrative Health Center at Rothman Orthopaedics. A popular speaker at Google and an award-winning clinical assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, she specializes in non-surgical pain care and building customized healthy aging programs for patients. Dr. Sharma has studied Lifestyle Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Integrative Medicine. She has studied yoga and meditation at Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, India and mindfulness at Thomas Jefferson University. She has completed Stanford’s Physician Wellbeing Director Course.


At a national level, Dr. Sharma serves as Chair for Spine & Pain Rehabilitation for the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and on a national Opioid Task Force. Furthermore, she continues to support alternatives to opioids and has directed a national physician course on navigating the opioid crisis. Dr. Sharma has recently joined the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Pain Society. She is a Top Doctor (multiple years in a row as voted for by her peers).

In her book, The Pain Solution: 5 Steps to Relieve and Prevent Back Pain, Muscle Pain, and Joint Pain Without Medication, integrative health expert Dr. Saloni Sharma offers a personalized and innovative five-step, anti-inflammatory health program built on what she calls “microboosts,” little steps that add up to big results. This unique approach empowers people to reduce excess inflammation, minimize pain, and develop a customized healthy living and aging plan.

Reading Challenge Format

In this guided-reading challenge, coaches will receive weekly emails from Dr. Jessica Singh to support them as they read Dr. Sharma’s book The Pain Solution: 5 Steps to Relieve and Prevent Back Pain, Muscle Pain, and Joint Pain Without Medication over the course of 7 weeks.

Coaches will have the opportunity to reflect on the material and connect with fellow coaches in a private Facebook group.

In addition, coaches will have the opportunity to discuss the book in two live group discussions with the author, Saloni Sharm, MD, and Jessica Singh, MD the founder of the Center for Health and Wellness Coaches.

Schedule Overview


The Pain Solution Reading Challenge will occur over 7 weeks, beginning on Monday, July 8, 2024, and ending on August 25, 2024, with a live discussion with the author, Saloni Sharma, MD, and Jessica Singh, MD.


All participants are expected to read the book, follow the weekly reading challenge schedule to the best of their abilities, and attend the live discussions prepared to contribute to an enriching conversation.

Recordings of the live discussions will be made available for all participants. However live attendance is necessary for CE Credit.


After enrollment, you will receive a welcome guide with all of the information and course syllabus.


CE Course Completion Requirements

To obtain a certification of completion, participants must fulfill the following course requirements:

  1. Review and agree to the reading challenge agreement.
  2. Read the book The Pain Solution by the end of the reading challenge.
  3. Attend and participate both 1-hour live sessions facilitated by Saloni Sharma, MD, and Jessica Singh, MD.
  4. Successfully complete both post-live session quizzes by achieving no less than 80% correct. After each live didactic, learners will receive a 5 question quiz testing their assessment of knowledge learned.
  5. Completion of a self-assessment upon completion of the program.
  6. Completion of a feedback form at the conclusion of the program.
